What real PayPal messages look like
- PayPal always addresses you by your full first and last name (or business name)
- Official emails come from
@paypal.comor@mail.paypal.com - PayPal will never send attachments or software updates in an email
- They will never ask you to call a phone number in an alert
Common spoof patterns
- "Your account has been limited" phishing driving you to a fake login portal
- "Suspicious activity on your account" alerts intended to create urgency
- Fake "Payment received" or "Invoiced" notifications for items you did not buy
